Newsletter 10/2024: Welcome to the World Health Summit 2024!

Dear Friends of the World Health Summit,

As we approach the World Health Summit 2024, I am excited to welcome you to Berlin, where we will gather under this year’s theme: "Building Trust for a Healthier World". More than ever, trust is the foundation for sustainable, equitable health solutions.

Health is a global public good, and the global health community is united by a shared commitment to advancing health for everyone, everywhere. This community has a responsibility to overcome political and cultural divides in an era where political tensions and instability increases. We must build trust and establish collaboration to navigate these challenges and secure a healthier future.

The conversations and new partnerships forged at this year’s Summit will shape our collective ability to jointly overcome crises and work together toward solutions that prioritize the well-being of humans, animals, and our planet.

A signature event in reaching this goal will be the largest international pledging event yet for the WHO Investment Round, aimed at securing critical stable funding to advance the WHO's mission of "Health for All". At this event, we are proud to welcome, among others, the German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, the Director General of the WHO Dr Tedros, the chair of the Gates Foundation Bill Gates and John-Arne Røttingen, CEO of Wellcome Trust.

With over 350 speakers and thousands of participants from all sectors and regions, the Summit promises to be a pivotal moment for global health dialogue and action. Let us seize this opportunity to live up to our responsibility, strengthen connections, exchange ideas, and generate impactful solutions — guided by trust and collaboration.

I look forward to seeing you in Berlin.

Stay safe, stay healthy!
