Newsletter 10/2022: Getting Ready for WHS 2022
|
Dear friends,
The World Health Summit 2022 is only a few days away and we are thrilled to welcome you all to a very special event: The World Health Summit and the World Health Organization (WHO) are jointly hosting the world's leading global health conference.
WHS 2022 will bring together the most prominent names in global health from all sectors in all regions of the world. We are expecting far more than 300 speakers and several thousand participants in Berlin and online. Among them are over 20 high ranking government officials and around 40 representatives from WHO.
Under the theme "Making the Choice for Health", they will discuss new strategies for global health and set the course for a healthier, more equitable future in 60 sessions and numerous side events.
The World Health Summit has the important task to facilitate and promote constructive exchange and finding of innovative approaches: In these times marked by a pandemic, an international security crisis, and increasing speed of climate change, working together across national or sectoral barriers is more relevant than ever.
We are convinced that global health can only be improved by strengthening partnerships and international cooperation. That is why we hope to see many of you in Berlin as well as lively digital contributors to our discussions.
May this World Health Summit 2022 be a summit of new solutions and new synergistic partnerships for global health.
See you all at the World Health Summit 2022 – on-site or online!

Olaf Scholz Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany

"We have no choice but learn from the current crisis and be better equipped for the next pandemic. This is our responsibility as leaders. In order to do better, we must understand better and rely on scientific work. That is what the WHS is all about!"

"The world must heed the lessons of this pandemic. One of the most important of those is the power of hope: that with science, solidarity and a commitment to equity, we can avoid unnecessary deaths and illness, and create stronger, more equitable and resilient health systems and societies that are able to deal with the crises of the future."
