Newsletter 08/2021: #WHS2021 Program News, WHO-Hub Opens
|
Dear friends,
This autumn, Germany focuses on global health: The World Health Summit, as you all know, will take place from October 24-26. Just some weeks before, the new WHO Hub for Pandemic and Epidemic Intelligence, Data, Surveillance and Analytics Innovation in Berlin opens its doors: On September 1st, the hub will officially and prominently be launched with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), both high patrons of the World Health Summit.
The hub is established in collaboration between the WHO and the German government, with World Health Summit and Charité being close partners. Launching this new powerhouse is a tremendously important signal for global health and for international and multilateral cooperation.
These are core values the World Health Summit shares and promotes. We are convinced, that international and multi-stakeholder collaboration is the only way to tackle the many global health challenges in a sustainable fashion. Threats like COVID-19 or climate change require a broad multinational and societal approach.
It is more obvious than ever that we must act together, in global cooperation and solidarity. To foster this cooperation, the World Health Summit and the M8 Alliance provide and develop an ever more important multi-stakeholder forum. Here, global health challenges are analyzed and interpreted, catalyzing possible activities and measures.
For the World Health Summit 2021 we are again looking forward to welcoming many diverse experts from science, politics, industry, and civil society – in Berlin and online: All sessions will be available digitally.
As we continue to prepare this hybrid World Health Summit 2021, we will continue to provide you with updates, particularly via Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram – and of course, via this newsletter.
Let us work together and try to make a real difference for global health – and see you all at the World Health Summit 2021!
With kind regards,
