Newsletter 01/2023: WHS Regional Meeting, WHS Year Book, Charité Center for Global Health

Dear friends,

Global health will remain a core issue on the international agenda for the new year 2023. Health emergencies caused by the threats of war, climate change and increasing inequalities are truly global challenges that desperately need international action - and the situation is worsening: According to the World Health Organization (WHO) almost 400 million people are facing humanitarian crises with severe health impacts - more than ever. WHO is currently addressing more than 50 health crises around the world (more).

In the year of its 75th birthday, WHO, the most important international institution for global public health and our longstanding partner, is more important than ever before.

I am looking forward to the contributions of the World Health Summit towards tackling these global challenges by providing opportunities for diverse international stakeholders to connect, discuss, and find solutions. The WHS Regional Meeting 2023 on April 13 in Washington DC and online will focus on "Bridging the Science to Policy Gap – Opportunities for Academia", an issue that is immensely important to ensure the political impact of scientific insights. You can still register for on-site participation, please find all info below.

And make sure to save the date for this year's World Health Summit in Berlin: October 15-17. We are proud to announce, that our first 2023 high patron already has been confirmed (more below). Get all news on topics, program, and speakers on our website, this monthly newsletter, and on social media - make sure to follow us on Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook.
