Newsletter 10-2/2022: WHS 2022 Wrap-Up

Dear friends,

The World Health Summit 2022 was truly remarkable in many ways: More global health experts and enthusiasts from around the world than ever gathered in Berlin and online: more than 4,100 participants on-site, more than 60,000 digital participants who joined live plus 18,300 viewers rewatching the sessions on the WHS YouTube channel (as of Oct. 31). A total of 404 speakers from 141 countries discussed the most pressing global health issues of our times in 61 sessions. We were thrilled to welcome speakers from around the world, among them over 30 government officials, and this year we had more female than male speakers contributing to the World Health Summit.

A tremendously great Thank-You goes out to the World Health Organization for being the co-host of a World Health Summit 2022 to remember. By combining our efforts, we were able to truly create an even more diverse and impactful event. I personally thank you, Dr Tedros, for initiating and fostering this collaboration and to both the WHO and WHS teams for making this idea a reality.

As we recap WHS 2022, we also look into the future: We must make global health a realistic political choice. This is the main message from WHS 2022 where we witnessed exceptional energy and commitment signaling to all decision-makers worldwide: "Act together and effectively to ensure a healthy life for all on a healthy planet."

Stay healthy and safe!
